28 October - Pambula Beach back tracks

Walk Leader(s) Neil and Jan Porter
Meet at: Lion's Park (aka "Middle Beach" or "Dog Beach"), Pambula Beach - follow Coraki Drive around past the Surf Club - first (only) turn on your left. Park in parking area down near the water.
Time: 9:30 am
Grade: Easy
Description: In 2011 we led a walk on the southern side of PB Rd - this year, the northern side. Easy grades on tracks and beach (tide and weather permitting) behind the dunes and past wetlands.
Distance: 10 km (ish)

11.69 km according to the iPad GPS Tracker (although Wayne's GPS said something different).
An eventful walk, we lost Ulli before we even had morning tea, then Ian disappeared looking for her.  Lynne left early - clearly the walk was more difficult than she had anticipated :)  We had many highlights: the Scout Camp; a couple of goannas; a couple of black snakes; the scenic delights of the sewage "lakes"; a kingfisher in the wetlands; a whale spout (well, it was exciting for anyone who hadn't seen an actual whale) and a bit of a climb to sort out the pack just before the descent to the Rivermouth Beach.

The actual track

Any whales?  Nope ..... then carry on!

After the track widened and snake sightings became less of a possibility.

Morning tea at the Scout Camp.

Ulli and Ian rejoin the group.

A wary group (wary of the black snake we'd just seen, not Ian) listening to an explaination of the way the sewerage settling ponds work.

Leaving the ponds.

Whale watch.

More narrow track.

Lunch stop at the Pambula Beach Wetlands.
